Why The Hair Council matters

In our sector, currently anyone can practice as a hairdresser or barber without any qualifications or training.

To become a State recognised professional, our members have to provide evidence of their qualications and training. Find one of our professionals and you know you’ll be in safe hands.

We are the only statutory authority in our sector. To become a Hair Council State Registered professional, members must provide evidence of their qualifications and training. When you choose one of our members to cut or colour your hair, you’ll have the reassurance to know you are in safe hands with a recognised professional.
