Important information from the ICO

Date 08 Mar 2020
Information Commissioners Office (ICO)

The ICO is the UK’s independent regulator for data protection and information rights. They are engaging with organisations in the Hair, Barber and Beauty industry to help them comply with their legal obligations.

What’s happening?

In the next few weeks they will be writing out to hair salons and barbers to remind them of their legal responsibility to register with the ICO and pay the data protection fee.

There’s more information about the campaign on their website:
https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/data-protection-advice-for-small-organisations/whats-new/blogs/data-protection-fee-what-you-need-to-do/

They also have a web hub specifically designed for small and medium enterprises, which has lots of tips and simple guides that our members will find useful:

If you have any questions about the campaign, or the work of the ICO, please telephone Caroline Hawley on 0330 414 6434 or email caroline.hawley@ico.org.uk and she will be happy to help.
