Press Release from the APPG

As Co-Chairs of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Hairdressing, Barbering and Cosmetology, the setting up of these specific sectors at BEIS (Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) is a major step forward for the sectors’ continued and developing communication with the Government.

The Hair and Barber Council have been lobbying for this to happen for many months, and together with other industry organisations have secured a sector specific division to look after the Hair, Barber and Beauty industry.

As the Statutory Authority for the Hair and Barber industry, constituted by the Hairdressers Registration Act of 1964,the Hair and Barber Council has worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to support its members and the sector as a whole, and their hard work and determination in always looking to do their best for the industry has been recognised, together with others, with the opening of this sector specific division.

We, as Co-Chairs of the industry APPG at Westminster, fully support the determination of the Hair and Barber Council working towards mandatory registration, and take pride with being associated with an industry organisation that works so hard to secure a more professional future for the Hair and Beauty sector.
